Elliot’s Revenge Trail Run
Elliot’s Revenge Trail Run is held at the Alligator Creek day use area within Bowling Green Bay National Park, near Mount Elliot. The course uses designated walking trails and power line tracks with undulating terrain, creek crossings and rocky sections. The park contains rugged mountains rising from coastal plains; Mount Elliot reaches 1221 m. Alligator Creek is about 30 km from Townsville.
The event offers multiple distance options:
- 6 km - short course with creek crossings, a notable hill and a fast downhill section
- 12 km - intermediate course with out and back sections, stairs and additional creek crossings
- 21 km - long course requiring a second lap and subject to a lap cut off
- Junior short distance available for under 16s
Courses are clearly marked with tape, signage and marshals at key junctions. Trail surfaces include uneven ground, rocks and gravel; creek crossings will wet feet but trails are not overgrown so gaiters are not required. Mandatory gear is required for the 12 km and 21 km events and includes two compression bandages, a fully charged waterproofed phone, a whistle, a space blanket and sufficient water and nutrition for the run.
Entry fees include a marked and marshalled course, first aid support, professional timing and photography, on course hydration and a post race recovery station. Amenities, race merchandise and food and coffee services are available at Race HQ. Participants are asked to respect the national park and avoid leaving rubbish.
