Lakeland Rotary's Rump Roast Run
The Rump Roast Run takes place in Minocqua, Wisconsin, featuring courses that utilize the local streets and the Bearskin State Trail. The event coincides with Beef-A-Rama, a local food festival that includes beef roasting, live music, and beer gardens in the downtown area.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Kids Run (Calf Mile)
The 5K and 10K courses begin in downtown Minocqua at Veteran's Park. Both routes follow the shoreline of Lake Minocqua along Highway 51 and Lakeview Drive before entering wooded lanes. The 5K participants join the Bearskin State Trail to cross the trestle over the lake to the finish line. The 10K runners follow the same initial path but continue onto the trail through wetlands and woods toward Baker Lake Road before turning back to finish at the trestle. The 1 mile youth race for ages 10 and under starts and finishes near the trestle at the head of the trail.
The awards ceremony recognizes top finishers with cow bells for the top three male and female runners in various age categories. The overall male and female winners in each race receive a beef roast. Adult participants can present their race bib at the Rotary Beer Garden to receive a complimentary beverage. Registration and packet pick-up are available at the American Legion.
