Rubble Creek Classic

Rubble Creek Classic is a trail race held through Garibaldi Provincial Park. The course distance is 25 km with 1080 m of ascent and 1353 m of descent. The start is at the Cheakamus car park and the finish at the Rubble Creek car park. There is no cutoff time for the event.

The route climbs the switchbacks on the Cheakamus Lake trail, crosses the flowered meadows of Taylor Creek, passes near the volcanic feature Black Tusk and descends to the shores of Garibaldi Lake. The event dates back to 1985. Entries are limited to 100 racers; the 2026 edition is sold out and the race also sold out on the same day in 2023.

This is a fully self supported race with no aid stations. A sweep clears the route and first aid is available on course and at the start and finish. Mandatory kit depends on weather. For good weather required items include a backpack or running vest, windproof jacket, 1 L water carrying capacity and 400 kcal. For bad weather required items include a backpack or running vest, windproof and waterproof hooded jacket, emergency blanket, 1 L water carrying capacity and 400 kcal. Organizers aim to notify competitors at least five days before which kit list applies.

Parking is not allowed at the Cheakamus Lake car park; runners must be dropped off or reserve a seat on the Shred Shuttle. Shuttle drop off is at a turnaround about 1 km from the start, creating a short walk in. Shuttle seats should be booked by July 31. New for 2026 is a small bag transfer from start to finish. There is no waitlist and the policy is no refunds with the option to transfer an entry to another runner until September 1. An afterparty is planned in Squamish with food and drinks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
