Event overview
The RRRC Bear Creek 10 Mile & Mini Trail Runs is an in-person trail race set for February 2026 at Bear Creek Lake State Park in Cumberland, VA 23040. The event includes the following race options:
- 10 Mile Trail Run
- Mini 4.2-Mile Trail Run
- Virtual 10 Mile Run
The main 10-mile event follows a loop course through the piedmont hills of Cumberland State Forest and Bear Creek Lake State Park. The Mini course follows a mix of park trails, Willis River Trail single track, and Cumberland Multi-Use Trail. A virtual 10-mile option is available for remote participation.
Registration, logistics, and awards
In-person registration for the two live races is capped at 275 total participants: 200 for the 10-mile and 75 for the Mini. Both in-person races are open to ages 14 and older. Entry fees listed are $50 for the 10-mile, $45 for the Mini, and $20 for the virtual 10-mile. RRRC members receive a $10 discount. Park entry is included with race registration.
Packet pickup and check-in are on race morning at the Bear Creek Lodge. Runners who register by February 10 are guaranteed a race shirt; virtual registrants do not receive a shirt. All finishers receive a race sticker. Gift certificates are awarded to top finishers by overall and age categories; the 10-mile also has 5-year age-group awards. Withdrawals before February 1 receive a refund minus a $2.50 withdrawal fee; transfers to the virtual run or to the other event may be possible. The Richmond Road Runners Club will donate $1.00 from each registration to Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
