Event overview

The Mountain Rescue Pendle Dark Dash takes place on Wednesday 25 March 2026 in Barley, England. The event is organised by Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team and all proceeds go to the team, a registered charity (no. 1195415). Entry is open to people aged 18 or older. Pre-entry and entry on the day are available; the entry fee is £11.

Course and safety

The route totals 9.2 km (about 5.7 miles) with approximately 350 m of climb. The course heads up Pendle Hill from Barley, follows the tourist path to the steps, continues on to the Beacon/trig and over the flags to the top of Ogden Clough, then descends Ogden Clough with two stream crossings, passes Ogden Reservoirs and returns to Barley. The route crosses open and exposed fell land and will be partially marked and marshalled by volunteer team members. A map and compass, a good head torch and full kit as specified by the FRA are required. Dogs are not allowed.

The venue is Barley Village Hall, BB12 9JT (grid reference SD 823 403). The race holds a permit and UK Athletics insurance via the FRA.
