Route 66 Mother Road 5K Foot Race
The 5th annual Route 66 Mother Road 5K Foot Race takes place in downtown Springfield, Illinois. This event coincides with the 100th Anniversary of historic Route 66 and is held in conjunction with the International Route 66 Mother Road Festival. The start line is located at the northeast corner of Old State Capitol Plaza.
Participants run on restricted city streets alongside classic cars featured in the festival. The course highlights the history and nostalgia associated with the famous American highway. The event offers multiple distances and participation options:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- Virtual 5K
The 5K course consists of three loops, with each loop measuring approximately 1.035 miles. The 1 Mile Fun Run follows a single loop of the same course. Registered participants receive themed memorabilia, including an event T-shirt and a finisher medal. Awards are provided for the top overall male and female finishers, as well as those who place at the top of their respective five-year age brackets.
