Rousay Lap 2026
The Rousay Lap takes place on Saturday 22 August 2026. It is a half marathon event in which runners, walkers and cyclists circumnavigate the main road around the Orkney island of Rousay. The route starts at the top of Doctors Brae and proceeds anti-clockwise around the island, finishing at the Space where refreshments are available.
The event is organised by the Rousay, Egilsay & Wyre Development Trust and is in its 16th year. Entry is free with optional donation categories; any surplus is distributed to voluntary organisations on the islands. The organiser sets a maximum of 150 entrants and entries close on 20 August 2026. The stated minimum age for entry is 1 year. Under 16s must have their entry form signed by a parent or guardian, and under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.
All finishers receive a certificate plus a Rousay Lap Half Marathon medal and a beanie hat at the finish line. Participants coming from Mainland Orkney may use ferry services to reach Rousay. The event is open to those who wish to run, walk or cycle the route along the island road. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
