Course, cut-offs and race rules
The course is marked at junctions and decision points; long straight sections may have no markers, so runners are asked to carry the GPX route on a watch or phone. The ultra has an overall 12-hour time limit and a mandatory halfway cut-off at Les Fontaines; runners failing the halfway cut-off are withdrawn. Marathon and half have no intermediate cut-offs but must finish within the event time limits; medals are awarded only to finishers within limits.
Aid stations are placed roughly every 8–10 miles and provide water, selected drinks, and basic food; the event is cupless so participants must bring a cup or bottle. The solo race rules forbid pacers, crewing and outside assistance. A mandatory kit list applies to all distances and includes a way to carry kit, warm layers, hat and gloves, whistle, compass, trail shoes, survival blanket, basic first-aid, a charged phone with navigation app, and a minimum 1000 ml drinking system.
