About the race

The Intertidal is a point-to-point running challenge along Jersey’s south coast, linking Gorey and St Aubin’s and covering approximately 24.7 km with about 20 m of elevation gain. The route runs across exposed foreshore during the low-tide window and passes six required coastal landmarks in order: Seymour Tower, Icho Tower, Green Island, Havre des Pas, Elizabeth Castle, and St Aubin’s Fort. Runners must visit each landmark and collect a token to validate their passage.

Terrain and conditions change with the tide and include mixed surfaces such as sand, rock, runnels, channels, and sections that transition back into urban promenades. Navigation follows route guidance but requires route choice and conservative decision-making when conditions shift. Key hazards noted include slippery rock, soft sand, rock shelves, causeway surface changes, and potential crossings or pedestrians in populated sections.

The event is tide-dependent rather than time-cut, so parts of the foreshore may become unsafe or impassable as the tide turns. Safety guidance and race-day instructions take precedence; participants are expected to self-manage pace, kit, and route choices between the required landmarks. GPX data and a runner guide are provided as navigation guidance only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
