Rotary Rainbow Run - 5k & 1k
The Rotary Rainbow Run is an annual community event held in the historic mission town of San Juan Bautista, California. Located approximately 50 miles south of San Jose off Highway 101, the event is organized by the San Juan Bautista Rotary Club. The festivities center on The Alameda Street, located in front of the local soccer field.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 5 km Rainbow Run
- 1 km Rainbow Fun Run (Pet & Child Friendly)
The race courses begin and end on the old El Camino Real at The Alameda. Participants travel through a variety of landscapes, including the historic downtown district, local neighborhoods, and rural countryside areas. The route also passes through the California State Park and Mission Plaza.
The 5 km event is a timed race with performance awards. In addition to athletic recognition, the event emphasizes community spirit through costumes. Participants and their four-legged companions are encouraged to dress in colorful attire, with prizes awarded for the best-dressed runners and pets. Team themes are also welcome.
Registration for the event includes a dri-tech t-shirt and a finisher medal for participants. Proceeds from the run are used to support the San Benito County Esperanza Center as well as local scholarships and grants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
