Root River Triathlon

The Root River Triathlon is a non-swimming triathlon held in the Bluff Country of the Root River Valley. It has been organized since 1998. The event starts in Houston, Minnesota.

Participants begin with a 6.8-mile paddle down the Root River, from Houston to Mound Prairie. This is followed by a 7.9-mile bike ride back to Houston, which includes some hills. The final leg is a 3-mile run, starting on the Root River Trail and continuing through the streets of Houston before finishing at Trailhead Park.
