Romancing the Island Half Marathon

Event overview
The Romancing the Island race takes place on Angel Island State Park, near Belvedere and Tiburon, California. The event offers two distances:
- Half Marathon (one loop repeated twice)
- 10K (single loop)
The event is limited to 400 participants. Race pricing for athletes includes the ferry fee. Bib numbers are mailed to participants beginning two weeks before the event. T-shirts are provided to all participants. Medals are awarded to all half marathon finishers. Personalized award ribbons for the top three male and female finishers in each age group will be mailed after the race.
Course and logistics
The course is a hilly loop that circumnavigates Angel Island, with panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay, and Marin County. The course is marked with orange ribbon at trail crossings and turns. There are no aid stations on the course; an aid station is available for half marathon runners before the second loop, and food and drink are provided at the finish. Half marathoners must complete the first loop within 1 hour 30 minutes and the overall course cut-off is 3.5 hours (pacing guidelines provided). Hikers and walkers may participate in the 10K. Athletes must use the chartered ferry from the Tiburon ferry dock to reach the island. Ferry service from Angel Island back to Tiburon runs approximately hourly. Parking in Tiburon is available in pay lots. Headphones and other audio devices are not allowed on course trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
