Quad Dipsea
The Quad Dipsea is a trail race in Mill Valley, California covering 28.4 miles and about 9,000 feet of vertical gain. The course follows the Dipsea Trail to Stinson Beach and back, and then repeats that out and back to complete the Quad.
The route begins at Old Mill Park and climbs quickly, including three long flights of stairs within the first few hundred yards. The trail passes through Windy Gap, into Muir Woods, and across Redwood Creek, then climbs through sections named Dynamite, The Hogsback, The Rainforest, and Cardiac. After panoramic views near Cardiac the course descends Steep Ravine, climbs Insult Hill, and follows The Moors toward Stinson Beach.
Once at Stinson Beach participants return to Old Mill Park via the same route, and then repeat the entire out and back to form the Quad. The race does not allow shortcuts; participants must remain on the Dipsea Trail for the entire distance.
Aid stations are located at Cardiac Hill, Stinson Beach, and Old Mill Park. Because the course is single track, pacers are not allowed and hiking or trekking poles are not permitted. There are no refunds, no rollovers, and no exchanges. A wait list is used and the entrant list is finalized by November 10, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
