Event overview
The Quad Dipsea is a trail event in Mill Valley, California, with a course distance of 28.4 miles. The route begins and finishes at Old Mill Park (Throckmorton Avenue, Cascade Way, and Old Mill Street intersection) and runs to Stinson Beach and back, then repeats that same out-and-back sequence a second time. The organizer states the course includes about 9,000 feet of vertical gain.
Course, rules, and logistics
The course follows the Dipsea Trail without shortcuts and includes long stair sections, steep climbs, single-track trails, and varied terrain through areas such as Muir Woods, Redwood Creek, Dynamite, The Hogsback, The Rainforest, Cardiac, Steep Ravine, Insult Hill, and The Moors. Aid stations are located at Cardiac Hill, Stinson Beach, and Old Mill Park. Due to single-track sections, pacers and hiking/trekking poles are not permitted. The event enforces time limits and cutoffs at the halfway turnaround, the point leaving Stinson Beach, and the finish. Registration opens on August 1, 2026; there are no refunds, rollovers, or exchanges. A wait list is used and the entrant list is finalized by November 10th.
