Quad Dipsea : Mill Valley, California
The Quad Dipsea is a trail event in Mill Valley, California, covering about 28.4 miles with roughly 9,000 feet of vertical gain. The course leaves Old Mill Park (Throckmorton Avenue, Cascade Way, and Old Mill Street intersection) and climbs immediately via several flights of stairs, then follows single track through ranchland, forests, and coastal grasslands.
Runners pass through named trail sections including Dynamite, The Hogsback, The Rainforest, Cardiac, Steep Ravine, Insult Hill, and The Moors. The route descends into Muir Woods, crosses Redwood Creek, reaches Stinson Beach, then reverses back to Old Mill Park along the same course. That round trip is then repeated to complete the Quad. Shortcuts are not permitted; participants must remain on the Dipsea Trail for the entire route.
Aid stations are located at Cardiac Hill, Stinson Beach, and Old Mill Park. Because much of the course is single track, no pacers and no hiking poles are allowed. The organizer uses a wait list; refunds, rollovers, and exchanges are not permitted and the entrant list is finalized by November 10th. Registration opens August 1, 2026 at 12:00 AM PT. Time limits and cutoffs apply at the halfway turnaround, at departure from Stinson Beach for Lap 4, and at the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
