About the race
The Quad Dipsea is a 28.4-mile (approximately 45.7 km) trail running event held in Mill Valley, California. The course begins at Old Mill Park and follows the Dipsea Trail. It includes significant elevation gain, with about 9,000 feet of climbing over its distance.
The route features stairs, steep hills, and varied terrain sections with names like Dynamite, The Hogsback, The Rainforest, and Cardiac. The point-to-point out-and-back course goes to Stinson Beach and returns to Old Mill Park, and runners complete this journey twice. Key landmarks include the initial stairs, Windy Gap, Muir Woods, Redwood Creek, Cardiac Hill with ocean views, Steep Ravine, and Insult Hill. The event enforces time cutoffs at the halfway point (12:00 PM), at Stinson Beach on the final lap (2:15 PM), and for the overall finish (4:30 PM).
Aid stations are located at Cardiac Hill, Stinson Beach, and Old Mill Park. The use of pacers and hiking/trekking poles is not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
