Roly's Run

Roly's Run is a trail running event held in the Meon Valley, Hampshire, with Race HQ at Swanmore Village Hall. The event offers multiple route options and is held in memory of a friend and ultra-runner known as Roly. This edition is the eighth running of the event.

Available distances:

  • 15.5 mile route, 463 m ascent.
  • 21.5 mile route, 712 m ascent.
  • 40 mile route, 1,266 m ascent, 10 hour cut off time.

Walkers are permitted in the 15 and 20 mile events and participants may swap between the 15 and 20 mile options on the day. Age requirements apply: 17 years or over for the 15 mile event, 18 years or over for the 20 mile event, and 20 years or over for the 40 mile event. The event is organised by CHALK & MUD TRAIL RUNNING LTD and is run under UKA rules. Dogs are not permitted on the course.

All courses form a clockwise loop from Swanmore and include Beacon Hill, Exton, Meonstoke, stretches on the South Downs Way and sections on an old railway line via Droxford. The route is approximately 80% trail, includes notable climbing and can be tricky underfoot in wet conditions due to loose stones, tree roots and chalky descents. Courses are waymarked and a gpx file will be available prior to the event. Fully stocked checkpoints are provided and the finish returns to the village hall where hot drinks and food will be available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
