Runningmonk Rollin' 100
The Runningmonk Rollin' 100 is a continuous 100 mile loop that starts and finishes at Clun Memorial Hall and crosses three counties. The route links ancient woodland, open hillsides, valleys, country lanes and extensive trail sections, including parts of the Shropshire Way, Offa's Dyke Path, the Mortimer Trail and the Jack Mytton Way.
The course includes around 16,500 feet of climbing with long climbs, fast descents and extended rolling terrain. The event is self navigated; much of the route is waymarked but every participant must download the official GPX file to both a GPS watch and a mobile phone and is responsible for finding their own way between checkpoints. All runners must check in at every official checkpoint. The event has a 50 hour overall cut off.
There are eight fully stocked aid stations located around the course, including Church Stretton, Craven Arms, Ludlow, Aymestrey, Titley, Kington, Knighton and Clun. Drop bags are accessible at Aid Station 2 (Craven Arms, ~23 miles) and Aid Station 5 (Titley, ~60 miles). Pacers may join from Aid Station 6. Every runner receives a live GPS tracker; volunteers staff aid stations and marshal the route.
Race headquarters at Clun Memorial Hall offers toilets, a kitchen and onsite parking. Finishers receive a Rollin' 100 buckle and an event T shirt. Organisers state payment plans are available.
Required kit highlights include a fully charged mobile phone, at least 1 litre water capacity, foil blanket, waterproof jacket with sealed seams, headtorch plus backup, warm hat, gloves, a dry long sleeve layer for emergencies, a personal cup and a minimum 500 calories of food. Waterproof trousers, electrolytes and a support crew are recommended. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
