Event Overview

The Rodney Richardson Water Run is an annual athletic event held in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The third edition of this event takes place at Town Square Park and features courses specifically designed to incorporate water elements. Participants navigate a route through the Historic neighborhood in the downtown area, finishing back at the park. The course includes sections where participants are sprayed with water from super soakers and a water blast provided by the Hattiesburg Fire Department at the finish line.

Distances and Categories

The event offers two distinct distances for participants:

  • 5K Run (3.1 Miles)
  • 1 Mile Fun Run

For the 5K event, awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, along with the top male and female finishers within each specific age group. The 1 Mile event recognizes the top overall finisher with an award.

Participation and Logistics

The event supports Ddembe Ministries, an organization providing care for orphans, widows, and families in Jinja, Uganda. Participants have the option to enter as charity runners to assist with fundraising efforts for this cause. Packet pickup is organized on the day before the race at 127 Buschman Street, or on the morning of the event at Town Square Park. While registration is available on the day of the race, participants who register after August 7th are not guaranteed an event t-shirt.
