Running through the Decades Half Marathon - Fort Worth
The Running through the Decades event in Fort Worth features a 1980s theme, held at Marine Creek Lake. This athletic gathering focuses on a nostalgic atmosphere with 80s music and a pre-race costume contest. Participants are encouraged to wear apparel from the era, such as leg warmers and neon colors. The event infrastructure includes a live DJ, a rally tent with refreshments, and on-site staff to assist participants.
The courses follow paved trails and park paths, which may include mixed surfaces such as crushed granite or dirt. As these are public spaces, runners share the paths with other park users. Aid stations providing water are positioned along the routes.
Participants can choose from various distances:
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile chip-timed course with trophies for top finishers and age group awards.
- Quarter Marathon: A 6.55-mile chip-timed race featuring overall trophies and recognition pins.
- 5K Run: A 3.11-mile chip-timed event with overall, masters, and age group awards.
- 1 Mile Run: An untimed fun run suitable for all participants.
- Kids Dash: A 50-meter run designed for children aged 10 and under.
All finishers across all distances receive a race medal and a soft-material t-shirt. Awards are presented for top overall male and female finishers, as well as gold, silver, and bronze recognition pins for age groups ranging from 10 and under to over 70.
