Rocky Raccoon 100
Rocky Raccoon 100 is an annual trail running event held in early February at Huntsville State Park, Texas. The event includes multi-lap ultra distances around a lake through East Texas pine forest, with trails on a bed of pine needles and sections of wooden bridges and exposed tree roots. Organizers report extensive course markings using caution tape, yellow arrows, reflectors, and confidence markers so navigation is not required.
Distances
- 100 mile: five 20 mile full laps
- 100K: one 2 mile short lap then three 20 mile full laps
- Youth 1 mile
The course profile lists roughly 1,250 feet of elevation gain and loss per full lap. Aid stations provide full support with hot and cold options and night-time caffeinated drinks on some stations. The event uses chip timing with ankle straps; chips must be returned if a runner leaves the course. There are final lap and final course cutoffs and drop bag return at course close.
Race policies include a cupless approach to reduce trash and Leave No Trace guidance for runners. Drop bag delivery is provided for specific aid stations; Nature Center has no delivery service. Pacers are allowed after the runner completes 49 miles and must register. Parking is limited and camping or hotel options are arranged through the event.
