Rocky Raccoon 100
Rocky Raccoon 100 is an early February trail endurance event held at Huntsville State Park, Raven Lodge, 565 Park Road 40 West, Huntsville, TX. The event offers multiple distances and is staged around a race hub by the lake.
Distances:
- 100 mile : five 20-mile full laps
- 100K : one short 2-mile lap then three 20-mile full laps
- Youth 1 mile : untimed youth run with a finisher medal
The course runs on packed pine-needle trails through East Texas pine forest, crosses wooden bridges, and circles a lake. The trail is gently undulating and low on rocks but has exposed roots in places. The course is extensively marked with caution tape, arrows, reflective markers, and confidence markers to aid navigation, including during dark hours.
Support details include full aid station service day and night, a cupless policy (bring a cup or bottle), drop bag services with specific delivery rules for certain aid stations, and chip timing. Pacers are allowed under the published pacer rules and must register. The 100 mile finishers who meet the published time standard qualify to enter the Western States 100 lottery.
