Rocky 50 Trail Race
The Rocky 50 Trail Race takes place in Huntsville State Park, located in Huntsville, Texas. This event was established as a standalone race following the growth of the Rocky Raccoon event. The course is situated within the East Texas landscape, featuring views of a local lake and surroundings filled with pine trees.
Participants navigate a trail course characterized by a mix of pine needles on the ground and exposed tree roots. The terrain includes some elevation changes and the route crosses several bridges. Wildlife is commonly seen in the area. Due to the location within the state park, the event has a participant cap to manage the limited space available.
The race offers the following distances:
- 50 Miles
- 50K
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 1 Mile (Youth Trail Run for ages 12 and under)
The youth event is a non-competitive mile where parents are permitted to run alongside their children. All young runners receive a finisher medal after completing the distance. For adult participants, aid stations are positioned along the course. Registration includes event-specific items; however, there is a specific deadline in early January for participants to receive a t-shirt.
