Rocky 50, by USWE - Huntsville State Park
Rocky 50, by USWE is a multi-distance trail race held in early February at Huntsville State Park, Raven Lodge area, 565 Park Road 40 West, Huntsville, TX 77340. Distances offered include:
- 50 miles
- 50K
- 13.1 miles (half marathon)
- Youth 1 mile
The course begins on the edge of Lake Raven and uses the park trail system with multiple loop configurations: the 50 mile is three full loops of approximately 16.7 miles each; the 50K uses a shorter first lap followed by a full lap; the half marathon is a single modified lap. Expect trails with rolling terrain, many exposed tree roots, bridges, and lakeshore sections. Organizers estimate roughly 1,250 feet of elevation gain and equal loss per full lap.
Course marking is extensive, with caution tape, directional arrows, and confidence markers; markings include reflectors for night navigation. The event is cupless; runners must bring their own cup or bottle. Full aid station support is provided, with a bridge aid station set up primarily for the half marathon and not guaranteed for the longer distances. Drop bag delivery to the Dam Nation aid station is available for 50 mile and 50K runners if bags are turned in during Friday packet pickup.
