CATCH THE PINEAPPLE WAVE
CATCH THE PINEAPPLE WAVE is a community run/walk held in Huntsville on April 11, 2026. The event is organized by the Peyton Irwin Foundation to raise funds for distracted driving education and student scholarships. The start and finish are located at Kate Barr Ross soccer fields.
The event offers two course options:
- 5K
- 1 mile
Course surfaces include grass, dirt, rocky patches and uneven ground, and may include mud in places. Individual times are not tracked, though a race clock will be present. Baby joggers and strollers are permitted but should assemble at the back of the pack at the start. Participants must stay on the official course.
All registrants receive a T-shirt, a swag bag, and a finisher medal. A virtual option is available; that selection includes shipping and is intended for participants who cannot pick up their packet locally. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the event. T-shirt size is not guaranteed for registrations after March 22, 2026.
Post-race activities include a driving safety expo featuring displays and demonstrations from emergency services, law enforcement, and vehicle showcases, together with concessions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
