Rock the Light Pirate Dash 5K and Captain Woolsey 10 Miler

The event offers in-person and virtual running options at the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Gift Shop inside Leelanau State Park (15500 N. Lighthouse Pt. Rd., Northport, MI 49670). Distances include a 5K out-and-back to N. Purkiss Rd and a 10-mile out-and-back to Woolsey Airport. The 5K course is described as flat. The final course map is pending approval from the County Road Commission.

In-person races are chip-timed by Race Result. Five-year age group awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age group. All participants receive a giveaway and a finisher medal; additional event items include a complimentary pancake breakfast and admission to the lighthouse. Bib numbers will be entered into a post-race prize drawing. There are prizes for best costumes.

Aid stations: the 5K has one aid station at the turnaround and at the finish line. The 10-mile race has three aid stations located approximately every 2.5 miles and at the finish line.

Registration information: online registration opens January 25, 2026 and online registration for the in-person races ends at 5:00 pm on June 5, 2026. Onsite packet pick-up and same-day registration are available the morning of the event. Virtual participants may complete their 5K or 10-mile event anytime between June 6, 2026 and December 30, 2026; virtual race packets will begin shipping after July 1st.

This race is included in the Traverse City Track Club 2026 Grand Prix Series.
