Friends of Fishtown 5K
The Friends of Fishtown 5K is the 18th annual chip-timed 5K held in Fishtown, Leland on July 18, 2026. Proceeds benefit the Fishtown Preservation Society for the ongoing care of Historic Fishtown. The course starts and finishes in the heart of Fishtown, winds through neighborhood streets and along the Leland River, and includes gradual climbs and descents. The event welcomes runners, walkers, strollers and leashed dogs, and is held rain or shine.
Race services include start-to-finish RFID chip timing, a corraled starting line, hydration stations on course and post-race fuel. The event is part of the Traverse City Track Club’s Grand Prix Series. Five-year age categories begin at age 5 and extend to 80 plus. Special awards include medals for the top three male and female finishers in each age category, unique overall awards for male and female winners, and new masters awards for best overall runners age 50 and older.
Participants receive a Fishtown 5K logo tee, race sticker and commemorative bib; the t-shirt cutoff is June 18, 2026. There is a mailed-packet option for those who cannot attend in person; mailed packets are sent via US Mail the week after the race and a shipping fee applies. Registration opens February 1, 2026, and registration pricing changes on June 1, 2026. Packet pickup occurs the day before the race at the Leland Library Munnecke Room and on race day in Fishtown; unclaimed packets are available at the FPS office on weekdays through July 31.
