Friends of Fishtown 5K
The event is an 18th annual 5K run/walk, taking place on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Proceeds benefit the Fishtown Preservation Society for the care of Historic Fishtown in Leland, Michigan.
The course starts and finishes in the heart of Fishtown and features gradual climbs and descents. The in-person race is chip-timed using RFID technology. Participants include runners, walkers, people with strollers, and leashed dogs. The event takes place rain or shine.
Registration is offered in two formats: an in-person race and a "Can't Be Here" option where a race packet is mailed after the event.
Event features
The in-person race includes:
- A corralled start with faster runners at the front.
- Hydration stations on the course.
- Post-race refreshments.
- Entry into the Traverse City Track Club’s 2026 Grand Prix Series.
- Age group awards in five-year increments starting from age 5.
- Awards for the top three male and female finishers in each age group, plus unique awards for overall male and female winners and for masters runners (age 40 and older).
All participants receive a commemorative race bib and logo sticker. Those who register by June 18, 2026, are guaranteed a race t-shirt.
Logistics
Packet pickup for in-person participants is available the day before the race at the Leland Library and on race morning in Fishtown. Online registration closes the evening before the race.
