2026 Rock the Heat 5k & 10k : Rock Creek Regional Park
This event offers trail and paved running at Rock Creek Regional Park in Rockville, MD (15700 Needwood Lake Circle). Points from this event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack series and toward the Summer Series. A virtual run option is available.
Distances
- 5k : one out-and-back on mixed paved path and trail.
- 10k : two out-and-backs on the same route.
Course details note about 1 mile of paved path and about 2 miles of trail with rolling hills across the route. Water stations are placed along each course: two on the 5k and five on the 10k at approximate mile markers. Gatorade is available at some water stations. Restrooms are located inside the park.
Participants receive a finisher medal, a technical event shirt, and chip timing. Organizers encourage participants to bring old race medals to donate; with each finisher the race donates an old medal to Medals4Mettle, the event beneficiary. Live interim results are available during the race via a QR code and via Athlinks; final results and series points are posted after the event.
Packet pickup and race day registration are available at the venue. Awards recognize the top three overall men and women plus 1st and 2nd in specified age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
