Event details
The Rock the Heat event takes place on July 11, 2026 at Rock Creek Regional Park in Rockville, Maryland. The event includes two distance options:
- 5k - out and back once
- 10k - two out and backs
Points from the event count toward a Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack series and toward a Summer Series. A virtual run option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. Live race results will be posted online and a QR code will be provided at the race for immediate result viewing.
Course and services
The route includes about 1 mile of paved path and about 2 miles of trail with rolling hills. Water stations are placed along each course: two water stations on the 5k and five water stations on the 10k, with Gatorade available at some stations. Restrooms are available inside the park. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered.
Registration, apparel and awards
T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before July 1; additional shirts may be available later on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration fees are listed with price increases after June 30 and an extra fee on race morning. Finishers receive a finisher medal, a technical event shirt, and chip timing. The race benefits Medals4Mettle, and organizers will donate an old race medal for each finisher. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to age-group finishers in standard age brackets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
