River City Micro Marathon, Decatur AL
The River City Micro Marathon stages the first full-distance marathon in Decatur on a micro-marathon course through Point Mallard Park. The marathon course is USATF certified and the 10K and 5K courses are described as flat and fast. Net proceeds from the event support the Decatur High School Track and Field team.
The marathon is contested as a loop that runners repeat six times. There is a six hour time limit with a halfway cutoff at the three hour mark. Aid stations are located at approximately the 2 and 4 mile points on each loop and will offer water and an electrolyte drink mix. Recovery food and beverages are available at the pavilion by the finish area. A course map and parking details are provided for the marathon loop.

Registration opens June 29, 2026 and closes October 1, 2026. Listed registration fees are $85 for the marathon, $40 for the 10K, $35 for the 5K, and $40 for the marathon relay. Packet pickup is available at Cross-Eyed Owl Brewery and at the start/finish area on race day. Age group and overall awards are offered for the marathon, 10K and 5K, and all marathon finishers receive a finishers medal.
