About the race
River Bend Run is the seventh annual 5 mile run and walk held in the Cox's Chapel community near Mouth of Wilson, VA. The event is scheduled for May 1, 2027; it had been planned for September 26, 2026 before being rescheduled. The course is a circular route on a mix of paved and dirt roads, with both hills and flat stretches. The route begins near the Cox's Chapel Community Center, turns right onto Cox's Chapel Road, then right onto River Bend Road which descends to the New River, and continues on River Bend Road returning to the Community Center.
The route passes creeks, pastures and follows sections beside the New River. All proceeds from the event are directed to a building fund for updates and renovations to community facilities.
