Event overview
The Grayson Highlands trail races take place May 2-3, 2026, at Grayson Highlands State Park near Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. The event includes multiple trail distances through the park and occurs as an annual race (11th running in 2026). Course distances are approximate; GPS readings and mapping software may vary from posted distances.
Distances and cutoffs
- 50 Mile: 7,500 ft climbing; 16 hour cutoff
- 50K: 4,500 ft climbing; 10.5 hour cutoff
- 25K: 3,000 ft climbing; 6 hour cutoff
- 8 Mile: 1,200 ft climbing; 4 hour cutoff
Race services and logistics
Packet pickup is available Friday evening and there is pre-race pickup on race morning. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each race. All finishers receive a beanie or hat and a medal; post-race food and professional race photos are provided. The event supports the state park, a local rescue squad, and a friends group. Volunteer sign-up is available and the organizers offer complimentary entries to volunteers as a thank you.
