Event Distances
The Grayson Highlands trail races offer four distances. The 50 Mile has approximately 7,500 feet of climbing and a 17-hour cutoff. The 50K has 5,000 feet of climbing and a 10.5-hour cutoff. The 25K has 3,000 feet of gain and a 6-hour cutoff. The 8 Mile has 1,200 feet of gain and a 4-hour cutoff. The organizer notes that distances and elevation are approximate.
Event Details
The event takes place on May 2-3, 2026, at Grayson Highlands State Park in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. It is the 13th annual edition. Packet pickup is available on Friday from 4-8 PM, and also on race morning. The event benefits the state park, a local rescue squad, and a friends group.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each race. All participants receive a beanie or hat and a finisher's medal. Post-race food and free professional race photos are provided. The refund policy states that within 90 days of the event, there are no refunds, bib transfers, or deferments. Before 90 days, runners may receive half credit toward another race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
