Event overview
The Grayson Highlands trail races take place May 2-3, 2026 at Grayson Highlands State Park in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia (829 Grayson Highland Ln). The event is the 11th annual running of these races and offers multiple trail distances through the state park. Course maps, aid station breakdowns, and a runners handbook are provided by the organizer.
Race details
- 50 Mile: 7,500 ft climbing; 16 hour cutoff.
- 50K: 4,500 ft climbing; 10.5 hour cutoff.
- 25K: 3,000 ft climbing; 6 hour cutoff.
- 8 Mile: 1,200 ft climbing; 4 hour cutoff.
Additional information: awards are given to the top three male and female finishers for all races. All finishers receive a beanie or hat and a finishers medal, plus post-race food and free professional race photos. The event benefits the state park, a local rescue squad, and the park friends group. Volunteers may receive free race entries. The organizer’s refund policy states there are no refunds, bib transfers, or deferments within 90 days of the event; before 90 days runners may receive half credit toward another Run Bum race, valid for one year.
