Rib Mountain Trail Races
Rib Mountain Trail Races in Wausau, WI are trail running events held on the trails of Rib Mountain State Park. The event offers multiple distance options and a free kids race. The course follows the same layout used in 2025 and includes a notable climb known as "The Hill."
Distances:
- 10.5 miles (≈15k)
- 21 miles (≈30k)
- 31.5 miles (50k)
The routes run on single-track and park trails beneath hardwood forest. The longer distances are organized as repeated loops of the same course. Aid provisions include cupless aid stations; participants use personal hydration systems to refill at the stations. Bone & Joint serves as the exclusive sports medicine provider and staffs a triage and aid station at the start/finish area to provide first aid and athlete support.
Finish line activities include food, drinks, and a post-race gathering where racers and volunteers receive a meal and a drink; spectators may purchase onsite. The event highlights environmental measures such as compost and recycling, and compostable food trays are used. The race is Trail Sisters approved, and a local Trail Sisters group is active in the Wausau area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
