Rhubarb Run - Aledo
Rhubarb Run is a multi-event community running day in Aledo, Illinois, centered at the Mercer County Family YMCA, 401 SW 2nd Ave. The course runs through the southwest section of Aledo and maps are available. Chip timing is provided by J3 Events, Inc.
Event distances and formats include:
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
- Little Sprouts Run
- 1 Mile Fun Run
Standard online entry fees listed for the events are Little Sprouts $15, 1 Mile Fun Run $20, and 5K Run/Walk $28. Day-of registration fees are higher and are listed separately as All 5K and Mile registrations $32, 1 Mile Fun Run $24, and Little Sprouts $20. A family rate is noted as not available online.
Age divisions and participation notes are specified for each event. Little Sprouts is for ages 3, 4, and 5. The 1 Mile Fun Run has categories 6 and under, 7 to 10, 11 to 13, and 14 and up with 14 and up able to participate but not eligible for awards. The 5K Run lists multiple age groups including 14 and under, 15 to 19, and decade-based divisions through 60 and up. The 5K Walk gives awards to the first five walkers and requires participants to walk the entire course; running is not permitted for walk awards.
Awards include full-size rhubarb pies for each overall winner, mini-size rhubarb pies for first place in remaining divisions, and trophies for the first overall male and female in the 1 Mile Fun Run and the 5K Run. Overall winners in the 5K Walk do not receive age division awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
