Roche Abbey Ramble is organised by Its Grim Up North Running and takes place on 14 June 2026 at the Travellers Rest, Main Street, Sheffield, S25 1YA. Four race distances are offered:
- 6.7 mile (open to entrants aged 16 and over)
- Half marathon (open to entrants aged 17 and over)
- 20 mile (open to entrants aged 18 and over)
- Marathon (open to entrants aged 21 and over)
Entry prices fall between £26 and £42. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association. Bibs are issued on the day at registration. The organiser donates 50p per runner to English Heritage.
Course and facilities
The route starts on the main road in front of the Travellers Rest and is a lapped course with one lap equal to 6.7 miles. Surfaces include trail, road, grass and woodland. The course is undulating and includes stepping stones; a marshal will be present at the stepping stones. Feed stations are placed at roughly three-mile intervals and provide drinks and food; the event encourages reusable cups or bottles. Marshals are positioned on course and there may be unmanned road crossings. Finishers receive a bespoke medal, food including cake and a chip butty served in the pub, and a drink.
