Event Overview

The Reston Sprint Triathlon is an annual multi-sport event held in Reston, Virginia. The 2026 edition marks the 20th anniversary of the competition. Participants can choose from several event categories, including a standard sprint distance, an aquathon, and a relay option for teams.

Course Details

The triathlon consists of three distinct segments:

  • Sprint Triathlon: A 400-meter swim in the Lake Newport pool, a 12-mile bike ride on local streets, and a 5K run on area pathways.
  • Aquathon: This event focuses on the swimming and running portions of the course.
  • Sprint Relay: This option allows multiple participants to complete the triathlon distances as a team.

Schedule and Location

The event is based at 11601 Lake Newport Road. While the primary races occur on Sunday, June 7, a Health and Wellness Fair is held the day prior in the pool parking lot. Monthly in-person meetups are also scheduled starting in February to provide training resources. All participants must be at least 13 years old to enter. Following the competition, a post-race beer garden is available for athletes to gather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
