Event Overview
The Reston Sprint Triathlon is an annual multi-sport event held in Reston, Virginia. The 2026 edition marks the 20th anniversary of the competition. Participants can choose from several event categories, including a standard sprint distance, an aquathon, and a relay option for teams.
Course Details
The triathlon consists of three distinct segments:
- Sprint Triathlon: A 400-meter swim in the Lake Newport pool, a 12-mile bike ride on local streets, and a 5K run on area pathways.
- Aquathon: This event focuses on the swimming and running portions of the course.
- Sprint Relay: This option allows multiple participants to complete the triathlon distances as a team.
Schedule and Location
The event is based at 11601 Lake Newport Road. While the primary races occur on Sunday, June 7, a Health and Wellness Fair is held the day prior in the pool parking lot. Monthly in-person meetups are also scheduled starting in February to provide training resources. All participants must be at least 13 years old to enter.
