Rescue Run
The Rescue Run is an annual trail race in East Bear Creek Regional Park. This is the 45th edition and the second year the event uses the wide park trails. The event offers two distances:
- 5K
- 10K
Both courses begin with about 0.5 mile on event center roads and dirt lots before crossing a bridge into the park trails. Trails are mostly wide dirt and may be icy or snowy in shaded areas; participants are advised to use traction at their own discretion. Course elevations range from about 6058 ft to 6192 ft.
The 5K follows park trails, splits from the 10K near 2.5 miles, crosses a final bridge, and finishes through a dirt lot by the horse barns. There are two water stations at roughly 1.5 and 2.5 miles. The 10K leaves the 5K route at 2.5 miles to use a private-property connector and additional park loops, returns along creek trails, and finishes similarly by the horse barns. The 10K has four water stations at about 1.5, 3.5, 4.5, and 5.75 miles.
Proceeds support El Paso County Search & Rescue (EPCSAR). The race is owned and organized by EPCSAR; Pikes Peak Road Runners provides timing and volunteer services. Online registration ends December 31 at 6:00 pm and there is no race day registration. Distance changes must be made before December 30 at 5:00 pm online or at race-day shirt pickup prior to the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
