Release the Kraken - Long Beach, CA
Release the Kraken is a beachfront running event in Long Beach offering multiple distances on a coastal course that follows a six-mile loop from the start down the beach path to Gaucho Beach at Alamitos Beach and back.
Available distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- 18 Mile
- 50K
The 18 Mile course uses three six-mile loops. The 50K course uses five six-mile loops plus one 1.07-mile out-and-back segment. A six-hour course limit applies to the longer distances; participants in those distances should be prepared to maintain the pace needed to complete their distance within that limit.
Registration information is provided for each distance with set opening and closing dates and entry fees. Registered participants receive a custom finisher medal, professional chip timing, live race results, free race photos, course support and water stations, and overall and age-group awards. A finish-line celebration with a DJ and MC is part of the event.
Runners, walkers, and friendly dogs are welcome in the 5K and 10K. Event logistics take place along the beachfront path and at nearby Alamitos Beach. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
