Rise Up and Run 5K : San Jose
Valley Health Foundation, in partnership with the County of Santa Clara Reentry Resource Center, is organizing a 5K run/walk at Hellyer County Park - Cottonwood in San Jose and a virtual 5K option. The virtual option may be completed between October 17, 2026 and October 31, 2026.
Registration opens July 14, 2026. In-person registration closes October 17, 2026 and virtual registration closes October 18, 2026. The listed registration fee is $41.00 per entry. Participants receive a Rise Up and Run race shirt and a medal. Packet pickup information will be provided at a later date.
The event raises funds to support immediate needs of justice-involved people, including clothing, food, hygiene items, and transportation. The County of Santa Clara Reentry Resource Center works with individuals who are returning to the community from custody and describes barriers these individuals face to employment, housing, and other opportunities. Many clients pursue education, job advancement, and peer mentoring as part of their reentry.
Ways of contributing described by the organizers include sponsoring a registration, donating money to purchase clothing for clients, or buying and donating new clothes for people leaving custody. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
