Red Top Rumble
The Red Top Rumble is the 20th running of an 11.5 mile trail race at Red Top Mountain State Park in Cartersville, GA. The course mixes hills, runnable stretches, bridge crossings, and panoramic views of Lake Allatoona. The event welcomes runners regardless of race, gender, or ability and includes postrace swag plus coffee and donuts around a firepit.
Start and finish are at the park Visitor's Center. The route runs behind the Visitor's Center along rolling trails past the Supply Outpost and campgrounds to the wide, runnable Iron Hill Loop, returns via the Homestead Loop which contains the park's largest hills, and finishes lakeside near Vaughn Cabin. A course cutoff is enforced at the Homestead aid station (7.7 miles) with a two hour limit from the race start point.
Facilities at the start/finish area include park bathrooms and porta johns. Parking is limited so carpooling is encouraged. There is a $10 state park parking fee effective 1/1/26 or participants may use an annual Georgia State Park pass; the fee is collected after arrival into the park.
The event is 100% non-profit with a portion of proceeds supporting Red Top Mountain. Registration policies state no refunds, transfers, or deferrals. Awards are given to top finishers across overall, gender, non-binary, master, and grandmaster categories with no duplication of awards. GUTS members receive a $5 entry discount.
