Trail Running in Red Top Mountain State Park
The Red Top Rumble is a trail running event held at Red Top Mountain State Park in Cartersville, Georgia, located north of Atlanta. The event takes place on a single course distance:
- 11.5 Miles
The route consists of winding wooded trails that are characterized as moderate to easy. Participants cross several bridges and have views of Lake Allatoona throughout the run. The race starts and finishes at the park's Visitor's Center. A course cutoff is enforced at the Homestead Aid station, located at mile 7.7, where runners must arrive within 2 hours of the start.
This event is organized by the Georgia Ultrarunning and Trailrunning Society as a non-profit race. A portion of the proceeds is donated to the Friends of Red Top Mountain to support park renovations, hands-on learning programs, and the maintenance of the Mountain Discovery Room.
Facilities at the venue include parking and portable toilets located at the start and finish area. A state park parking fee is required for all vehicles entering the park, unless the vehicle displays an annual Georgia State Park pass. Awards are presented to the top five male and female finishers, as well as the top finishers in the Master and Grandmaster categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
