Red Sneakers Peoria 5K & Teal Pumpkin Festival
The Red Sneakers Peoria 5K & Teal Pumpkin Festival is an event on October 17, 2026 at Tower Park in Peoria Heights, IL organized by the Peoria chapter of Red Sneakers for Food Allergy Awareness. The festival portion is free and family-friendly. Past festival activities included teal pumpkin painting, non-food treats, allergy-friendly samples, face painting, a raffle, live music, a children’s booth, an inflatable slide, and practice using epinephrine on a training mannequin. The event received a FARE Community Outreach Award grant for the Teal Pumpkin Festival component.
Community impact reported by the chapter includes supplying epinephrine auto-injectors to Peoria police officers, training early learning educators and donating epinephrine, partnering with local restaurants on allergy-safe dining, expanding allergy-safe zones at community venues, and installing an allergy-friendly playground sign.
Additional event notes: shirts are included with registration though availability may vary, a youth discount applies for ages 12 and under, packet pickup is available the day before at RC Outfitters and on site at Tower Park, virtual participants may submit results for prizes, the event occurs rain or shine, and dogs are not allowed.
