Red Shoe 5k - National Harbor
The Red Shoe 5k is an annual fundraising event for Ronald McDonald House Washington DC held at National Harbor, 149 National Plaza, Oxon Hill, MD. Points from this event count toward the Year-Long 5k & Back of the Pack Series and toward the Fall Series.
The course follows the Potomac waterfront and features varied terrain with some gravel surfaces and a slight incline. The event includes an on-site community atmosphere with music and celebration. A Kids Fun Run takes place near the National Harbor Ferris Wheel; children aged 8 and under run the shorter course and receive a red cape.
Participants receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirt guarantees apply to runners registered before Nov 24; additional shirts may be available afterward on a first come, first served basis. Registration is available on race day, but sizes for race day registrants cannot be guaranteed. Packet pickup is available at the event.
Logistics include one water station on the 5k course at about mile 1.55, Gatorade at some water stations, and portajohns near the start and finish. Live results are posted on Athlinks and a QR code at the race provides immediate access. Final results with series points are posted the Monday after the event.
