About the race
Red Rock Sunset Rumble is a trail event at Red Rock Canyon Park in Topanga, CA, organized by SoCalTrail. The event includes a timed 10k Rumble and a non-timed Hiker's Delight that provides access to the same aid stations and event amenities.
- 10k Rumble: 10 kilometers, roughly 1,360 ft vertical gain and loss.
- Hiker's Delight: 4.5 miles, roughly 1,075 ft vertical gain and loss.
The 10k course runs about 90% on fireroads and includes a half-mile of singletrack. Terrain includes oak forest, chaparral, red sandstone cliffs, and a seasonal creek. Aid stations provide Skratch Hydration and water at miles 1.8 and 3.6 on the 10k and at mile 2.27 on the Hiker's Delight. The course features two major climbs and a downhill finish.
Event amenities include a 21+ beer garden, a plant-based taco breakfast, hand-crafted finisher medals, free course photography, sports massage by Vision for Enrichment, sponsor giveaways, finish line music and announcers, same-day results, and professional medical support. Awards include age group awards (female and male), overall podium awards (female, male and non-binary), and a Local Legend award for the fastest Topanga residents. A $500 course record bonus is offered for the 10k, and 10k winners are invited to the SoCalTrail Season Finale on December 12, 2026 at Crystal Cove.
There is no on-site parking on race day. Free off-site parking and shuttle service operate from Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Topanga School Road; the shuttle drop-off is approximately a 0.6 mile walk to the race site.
