Red Raider Road Race
The Red Raider Road Race is the 45th edition of an annual running event first held in 1982. The 2026 race is scheduled for October 10 at Texas Tech University with both courses looping the inner campus and the Student Recreation Center listed as the event location.
Two distances are offered:
- 5K run / walk
- 10K run
Registration opens on September 12, 2026. Packet pickup is available the Friday before race day at FootTech on 19th Street from 11:00am until 6:00pm. Entry fees are listed as $25 for West Texas Running Club members and for non-member children ages 10 to 12, and $35 for non-members for both distances. Race day registration is limited and entry fees are non-refundable.
Age requirements differ by event: participants must be at least 10 years old for the 5K run or walk, at least 13 years old for the 10K run, and stroller use is allowed only for those 18 and older in the 5K. Pets are not allowed on the course. Both the 5K and 10K courses carry USATF certifications with numbers TX13188ETM and TX13187ETM respectively. The event is listed as a T-shirt race.
