Overview
The Reading Triathlon, organized by the Tri2O Triathlon Club, takes place at the Hi5 Open Water Swim Centre in Pingewood. This event carries historical significance as the original venue for the first triathlon held in the UK in 1983. The competition features an open water swim, a cycle course through the lanes of local areas including Burghfield and Mortimer, and finishes with a run on a lakeside trail.
Race Options
Participants can choose from several event formats and distances:
- Super Sprint Triathlon: 400m swim, 12km cycle, and 1.8km run.
- Sprint Triathlon: 750m swim, 22km cycle, and 5.4km run.
- Standard Distance Triathlon: 1500m swim, 40km cycle, and 10.8km run.
- Sprint Relay Triathlon: 750m swim, 22km cycle, and 5.4km run for teams.

Logistics and Sustainability
The venue is located 10 minutes from junction 11 of the M4 motorway and a 10-minute walk from Green Park station. There is no parking at the event site; instead, a designated car park is available at 100 Longwater Avenue, which is a 10-15 minute walk from the start.
To promote sustainability, the event does not provide finisher T-shirts or plastic cups at water stations. Participants must bring their own swim hats, though hats and collapsible cups are available for purchase during registration.
Participation Requirements
Most events are open to participants aged 15 and over, while the standard distance options require entrants to be at least 17 years old by the end of the year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
