Reading Hospital Road Run
The Reading Hospital Road Run is an annual athletic event hosted by The Friends of Reading Hospital in West Reading, Pennsylvania. The event features several participation options on a Sunday in October, with courses centered around the hospital campus and the surrounding local communities.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 1/2 Marathon: A 13.1 mile chip-timed race starting in West Reading that crosses the Schuylkill River.
- 5K: A 5 km chip-timed race consisting of a scenic loop through the areas near the hospital.
- 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run: A 1 mile untimed event following a route around the hospital grounds.
The half marathon course travels from West Reading into the city of Reading before passing through Wyomissing and returning to the finish line. Both the half marathon and the 5K races start and finish near the clock tower and utilize chip timing for results. Pacers are available for participants in the half marathon distance.
The event recognizes top performers in the 5K and half marathon categories. Awards are presented to the three fastest male and female finishers overall, as well as to winners across various age groups. Registered participants in the timed races receive a short-sleeve wicking shirt, while those in the 1 mile fun walk have the option to purchase one separately.
