Event Overview
The REACH Foundation Shamrock 'n Run is a community event featuring a 5K and a 2K fun run or walk. The event is organized to raise funds for student programs and events within the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD). It is described as a long-standing tradition, with thousands of participants each year.
Race Details
The event takes place at Yorba Regional Park in Anaheim, specifically in the ball fields area. The courses are cross-country style.
- The 5K course starts and finishes on an outfield grass area, winds through pine trees and past ponds, and follows a wide dirt trail. It is described as relatively flat.
- The 2K course also starts and finishes on the outfield grass and winds through ponds and scenic park views.
Both the 5K and 2K are professionally timed. Medals are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in overall categories and by age division for both genders.
Registration and Community
Registration categories include General Participant and discounted rates for PYLUSD elementary, middle, and high school students. Students, veterans, and those who refer friends may be eligible for registration discounts or refunds.
The event includes a community expo with over 40 vendor and sponsor booths. A free pancake breakfast is provided for registrants. Leashed dogs are permitted on the courses, provided owners follow specific park guidelines.
