Event Overview
The Rodeo Run is a cowboy western-themed running event held at Huntington State Beach in California. The main running events are a 5K and a 10K. There is also a children's event called the Little Cowpoke Dash, with options for 200 yards, 400 yards, or one mile.
Themed Activities
The event features western music, live horses, and line dance instructors. Activities include a learn-to-rope station and a line dance warm-up area.
Race Details
The course is described as flat and fast, using a paved running path with views of the beach. It is open to the public and shared with cyclists, other runners, and dog walkers. Water is available on the course. Registration includes a western-themed event shirt, a running bib, and a custom cast finisher medal that converts into a belt buckle. The medal design is new each year. The event is chip-timed.
Awards and Participation
Awards are given to the top three overall finishers and the top three finishers in each five-year age division, from 1-10 up to 85 and older. Strollers and leashed dogs are permitted, with participants asked to start at the back. Race-day registration and packet pickup are available.
Location and Parking
The event takes place in Lot 10 at Huntington State Beach, at the corner of Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway. Parking within the state park costs $15. Alternative parking is available at the nearby Pacific City shopping area or on metered streets.
Beneficiary
The event accepts donations to support Miss Pam's Ranch, with a goal of funding a wheelchair-accessible restroom and shower trailer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
