RC and Moonpie Downhill Mile

The RC and Moonpie Downhill Mile is a point-to-point running event held in Clemson, South Carolina. This event features a specific format that combines a downhill course with the consumption of snacks and beverages along the route. The race serves to honor former Clemson President R.C. Edwards and his wife, Louise "MoonPie" Edwards.

The event consists of a single distance:

The course begins on the sidewalk in front of the President's House and proceeds down Highway 93. Participants eat one MoonPie at the start line and a second MoonPie along with an ice-cold cola at the halfway mark near Sikes Hall. The finish line is located near the Esso Club, where participants receive another cola and join a post-race celebration.

Check-in takes place on the sidewalk outside the President’s House. Registration includes a race day bib, a themed T-shirt, two MoonPies, and two colas. The start of the race is signaled by the Death Valley Cannon. This event is organized as a fun run and focuses on preserving a university tradition and local spirit.
