America's 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

America's 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run takes place on July 4, 2026, in Anderson, South Carolina. The event is centered around the Anderson County Courthouse at 100 South Main Street. The race serves as a community celebration for the United States' Independence Day and supports scholarship programs for local youth to remain active through Operation Active Kids (OAK).

The event offers two distinct distances:

  • 5 km
  • 1 mile

The 5 km race uses a certified course and is open to runners and walkers, including those with strollers. Participants receive a medal upon crossing the finish line, and refreshments are provided at the end of the race. Souvenir race shirts are available as an optional add-on.

The event features a competitive element with awards for the top three male and female finishers in the overall, masters, and grandmasters categories. Recognition is also given across seventeen different age groups, ranging from 10 and under to 80 and over. Additionally, the event includes a costume contest where participants are eligible for a cash prize based on a peer vote. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
