Ray's Race at APA

The 48th Annual Ray's Race is a running and walking event held during the American Psychological Association (APA) Convention. The competition takes place at the Historic Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC. This location is a 35-acre National Historic Landmark situated along the Anacostia River. Established in 1807, the site is an active burial ground and is the only cemetery located directly on the original 18th-century city plan of Pierre L'Enfant.

Participants can choose from the following event distance:

  • 5K Run/Walk

The race route is situated near convention hotels and the Washington Convention Center. Organized by the Running Psychologists, a group within APA Division 47, the event serves as a scheduled activity for convention attendees, their guests, and local participants. Transportation is arranged via shuttle buses for those traveling to the venue.

Registered participants receive a race shirt and a bib, which are available for collection at a dedicated table near the convention registration area. The event cost is structured by category, with specific rates for APA members, friends, and family, reduced rates for students, and free entry for children aged 14 and under. All proceeds and activities are managed by the nonprofit association responsible for preserving the cemetery's historic and aesthetic landscape. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
