Raising the Barr
Raising the Barr is an endurance running event located at Barr Lake State Park in Brighton, Colorado. The event takes place on a course centered around a lake and utilizes a specific looping format. Participants begin their race by completing as many 10 mile loops as possible around the lake during the initial portion of their timed event. For the final hours of the race, the course transitions to 1 mile loops to allow runners to accumulate additional distance.
The event offers several duration options and participation formats:
- 12 hour - Solo
- 12 hour - Relay ULTRA (2-3 people)
- 12 hour - Relay STANDARD (4-8 people)
- 6 hour - Solo
- 6 hour - Relay ULTRA (2-3 people)
- 6 hour - Relay Standard (4-8 people)
For the 6 hour events, the transition from the 10 mile loop to the 1 mile loop occurs after the first four hours. For the 12 hour events, participants switch to the smaller loop after ten hours of running.
Registration for the event includes a race bib, a t-shirt, and a post-race meal. The venue is located at 13401 Picadilly Road in Brighton. Participants can choose between individual efforts or team relay options across two different timed categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
