Event Details
The Racing Towards Preservation event offers 5k and 10k distances at Payne's Farm in Locust Grove, Virginia. Registration fees are listed as $30 for the 5k and $45 for the 10k until February 15, after which prices increase. An additional $5 increase applies on race morning.
Race Series
Participation earns points for the organizer's Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack series, as well as a Winter Series. The Back of the Pack series is for participants who average times higher than the listed Back of the Pack time of 11:30.
Course & Amenities
The course is described as scenic, taking place around the Payne's Farm Battlefield with gentle inclines. The 10k route consists of two laps of the 5k loop. Three water stations are positioned along the 10k course, with one on the 5k course. Gatorade may be available. The event offers a virtual run option.
Participant Perks
Registered runners receive a finisher's medal, a technical (Dri-Fit) event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations before February 25. Port-a-john restrooms are available on-site.
Awards & Recognition
Awards are given to the top three overall men and women, and to the first and second place male and female finishers in standard age group categories. Staff photos are posted post-event, and a social media challenge offers a discount for a future race.
Logistics
Packet pickup and race-day registration are available on-site. Participants are advised to arrive one hour before their race start. Parking is available at Zoar Baptist Church next to Payne's Farm.
