2026 Racing Towards Preservation 5k & 10k
The event takes place on March 7, 2026, at Payne’s Farm in Locust Grove, VA. It is organized by Bishops Events and benefits Friends of Wilderness Battlefield. A virtual race option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. Points from the event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack series and the Winter Series.

The 10k consists of two laps of the 5k loop. The course runs around the battlefield and has gentle inclines. The event is chip timed. Runners receive a finisher’s medal and a technical (drifit) event shirt.
Logistics
Registration fees are listed with reduced rates through February 15 and will increase on race morning by $5 for each distance. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before February 25; additional shirts may be available afterward on a first-come, first-served basis. Packet pickup is available at the event; participants are advised to arrive about one hour before the event to check in. Race day registration is offered, but shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for same-day registrants. Parking is available at Zoar Baptist Church next to Payne’s Farm (31334 Zoar Rd). Support and results
Water stations are placed at approximately mile markers 1.55 on the 5k and at 1.55, 3.1 and 4.65 on the 10k; Gatorade will be available at some stations. Portable restrooms will be on-site. Live results will be posted on Athlinks and final results with series points will be posted the Monday after the race. Photos taken by staff will be posted by the Tuesday after the event.
