Overview
#Race4Wanza Doughnut Dash is an annual community 5k held in Charleston, South Carolina. The event is presented as the 11th annual edition and is described as a family-friendly run/walk that raises funds for a scholarship fund and other philanthropic outreach programs. Since the event began, it has helped award over $30,000 in scholarships to minority high school graduates in the Charleston area.
Event details
The race takes place at Kids Garden, South Windermere, located at 61 Windermere Blvd, Charleston, SC 29407, in the rear parking lot of the South Windermere Center. The event offers competitive and non-competitive divisions plus a virtual "Race From Home" option; virtual registration closes March 23, 2026 and website registration closes April 16, 2026 (on-site registration carries a $5 late fee). The event was listed as a USATF sanctioned event in 2025.
Competing participants follow a doughnut-eating requirement: individual competitors must eat a dozen doughnuts before their bib is scanned, competing children must eat four doughnuts, and teams share a dozen doughnuts. Teams must have between 2 and 6 members and team time is based on the last team member to finish. Non-competing individuals may eat doughnuts one at a time. All children must have a parent or guardian in sight and be registered.
Registration includes a event T-shirt, a swag bag, a race medal, and a race number. Awards are given for 1st through 3rd place teams and for individuals in the following age categories: 5-8, 9-12, 13-15, 16-21, 22-34, 35-49, and 50+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
