Cooper River Bridge Run – event overview

The Cooper River Bridge Run is an annual 10K road event held in the Charleston, South Carolina region. The course crosses the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge and finishes in downtown Charleston; the start area is located in Mt. Pleasant at the corner of Simmons and Coleman Boulevard.

The event includes a timed 10K with a Walk/Run category placed in the final corral and a separate kids run. Walkers receive the timing device and appear in the full results within the event time limit. The course includes bridge sections with noticeable grades, including an approach of about 1.8 percent and a short section of about three quarters of a mile with slopes up to 5.6 percent; the bridge length is listed as 2.5 miles.

Participant services include a multi day packet pickup at the event Expo in North Charleston and a packet mailing option for those who pay the mailing fee. Shuttle buses and a boat shuttle operate between key docks, Patriots Point and the start area, with boat passengers managed by ticketing and dock lists. Race logistics note limits on wheeled devices: strollers and similar devices are allowed only in the last walker corral and are not permitted on shuttles.

The 2027 edition is capped at 38,500 entries. Fast facts listed for the event include its founding year and the size of the Expo. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
