Race2Unravel
Race2Unravel is a community sports event held at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy, California. The event supports pediatric cancer research and offers several distances and categories for participants of different ages and interests. The course is situated at the Ranch Side of the park and extends through the Uvas Creek Levee Park Preserve along the Uvas Creek Levee Trail. The route is fully paved and mainly flat with prominent signage and marked turnaround points.
Participants can choose from various event options:
- 10K: Open to adults and youth aged 9-17.
- 5K: Open to adults and youth aged 7-17.
- 5K Ruck Division: A walking or jogging category using weighted backpacks.
- Kids Fun Run: A lap of approximately 1/4 mile for children aged 2-12.
The rucking category requires men to carry 30 lbs and women to carry 20 lbs. Rucksacks are weighed before the start, and finishers in this division receive a commemorative patch.
The event is a cupless race, meaning participants must bring their own water bottles. Strollers are permitted on the course, though users are asked to give the right of way on narrow sections. No pets are allowed at the event. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 10K, 5K, and Ruck divisions, while all children in the Fun Run receive participation medals.
